In July 2005, the ERLAI coordinator, Regione Emilia-Romagna, submitted a project proposal under the INTI programme (Integration of third country nationals). The INTI programme promotes the integration in the Member States of people who are not citizens of the European Union, develops dialogue with civil society, develops integration models, seeks out and evaluates best practice in the integration field and sets up networks at European level.

The ERLAIM (European Regional and Local Authorities for the Integration of Migrants) project aims at improving the quality of the action of regional and local stakeholders when participating in the design and implementation of policies concerning the integration of third country nationals.

On the basis of ERLAI´s experience, the project intends to promote a wider transnational partnership representing a platform for dialogue on integration of migrants between European institutions, public authorities at all levels and representatives of civil society and migrant associations.

The ERLAI network activities are considerably strengthened by the European Commission co-financing of the ERLAIM project.

The project started on the 8th of December 2006 and will last 18 months. All interested stakeholders are warmly invited to contact us in order to enlarge the partnership and foster the dissemination of the project activities and results.
